HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY
March 17, 2010
So I know that I'm certainly the slacker in this relationship of ours. I keep meaning to blog more, but little league games, awards' season, birthday parties, and hosting a daily tv show tend to keep my plate overflowing. For this, I am happy and beyond grateful. But still, love to write. And love to hear you love to read. ;-)
So, the Oscars came and went. I hosted E!'s post-show coverage with my tv husband, Sal Masekela and a handful of other really talented and funny people. There's nothing more thrilling than doing LIVE tv for me. Two minutes before we went live though, Sandy Bullock wins her Oscar, gives that ridiculously touching acceptance speech, and I couldn't fight back tears. My makeup artist wanted to shoot me. Or her. Which brings me to my Glam Squad. A huge thanks to Jamie Bakos from the Argyle Salon in Hollywood who styled my hair... and the lovely Lisa Zimmitti who manages to make me look glamorous, fresh, and far younger than I am! Last, but not least, my stylist Monica Rose who found that gorgeous Tony Ward gown. She and Adriana Gallarzo help me slide on those Spanx and come off looking red carpet ready each and every time!
Another really killer part of my professional opportunities that indirectly come from me getting to play on "tv" for a living... is doing photo shoots. I have met a number of exceptional photographers in town and Josh Madson and Yuji Kojima are two of them. Check out this kinda-sexy-for-me shot below. My kids saw this one and were like, "Mom, are you wearing pants?" Yes children, yes I am.
On tv every day I show up as Catt Sadler and turn on a big bright smile even on the days when, frankly, it's the last thing I want to do. Either I'm pms-ing, or distracted by a family situation, or concerned about a relationship - whatever it may be. It's not very often, but I do have bad days, terrible days, just like everybody else. But when the light goes on, I've got to leave that sh-- at the door of the studio. Photo shoots, contrastingly, are fun because it's basically acting. I get to step outside of myself and pretend to be a really rad bad-ass edgy chick or an uber sexy exotic goddess and "play the part." LOVE IT! I don't know if I entirely succeeded this time, but I know Josh and Yuji do amazing work. I was grateful to be their subject.
Lastly, wanted to introduce you guys to my newest family member. Meet Cammy the Chameleon. My son Austin has begged and pleaded for two years to have a pet chameleon. He's studied these little creatures online, wrote to Santa promising to be nice for one of these green guys... And well, finally Mama came through for his 9th birthday present. I have to say, Cammy is really growing on me. He lives in my bathroom and I find myself talking to him most mornings before I leave for work and at night before I go to bed. He stares at me with those ginormous eyes, and I swear he may actaully understand me. (If you're paying money for a therapist, may I suggest simply investing in one of these little guys. Only downside is feeding him live crickets every day. ALMOST a deal breaker for me.) That's it for now. Headed off to one of the coolest jobs in the world. Love my D10 family and love that you tune in. Please, send me a note. This conversation feels incredibly one-sided. ;-)
LOVE LOVE Big LOVE to you all. May you know now that the gold really isn't at the end of the rainbow. It's all around you if you simply open your eyes, Catt
